Headspace

Little space · Sub space

Headspace is the mental state you shift into during regression or a role — the best-known being “little space,” the soft, younger, unpressured frame of mind many people find deeply calming. It’s less something you do and more something you allow.

What headspace feels like

People describe little space as feeling smaller, softer, safer and lighter — the weight of adult worry lifting for a while. Other roles have their own headspaces too. It can come on gently with the right cues (comfort objects, routine, safety) and can’t really be forced.

Entering and leaving gently

Familiar comfort — plushies, cosy clothes, a calm routine — helps you slip in. Coming back out (“returning to big”) deserves care too: give yourself time, water, and gentleness. This is where aftercare matters.

It’s a healthy kind of rest

For many, headspace is simply a way the mind sets down stress and feels cared for — like deep relaxation. Used kindly, alongside the rest of your support, it’s a genuinely soothing tool.

Common questions

Can I force myself into little space?

Not really — it’s something you allow rather than force. Familiar comfort, safety and calm routines help you slip in naturally.

Is being in headspace safe?

Yes, when you enter and leave it gently and have aftercare for the “return to big.” It’s a form of deep rest for many people.
