For a lot of people the draw is emotional as much as physical: a soft, snug, reassuring feeling that quietens a racing mind. It’s often described as being gently “held” — a bit like a weighted blanket you can wear.

How the community talks about it

You’ll hear people say they’re “padded” or “padded up” when they’re wearing. It’s everyday, affectionate community language — nothing clinical about it.
